männer.ch-Präsident Markus Theunert und Andreas Borter, Leiter des Schweizerischen Instituts für Männer- und Geschlechterfragen SIMG, haben vom 5. bis 8. März 2015 an der 23. Konferenz der «American Men’s Studies Association’s» über Männer und Männlichkeiten teilgenommen, welche zusammen mit dem Center for the Study of Men and Masculinities der Stony Brook University (Michael Kimmel) und Men Engage durchgeführt wurde. 

Bei dieser Gelegenheit haben wir am Samstag, 7. März 2015, im Plenarsaal das triple advocacy-Konzept von männer.ch in einem breiteren Rahmen vorstellen und diskutieren können:

After a decade of advocating as a progressive men’s organization, we are following the current development of policies and coalition building mechanisms in the field of Gender Equality with some concern (see Theunert, 2014), because we believe that

– the progressive alliance is not as large and powerful as it could be,
– the progressive policies are not as progressive and courageous as they should be.

Therefore we would like to share some lessons learned in 10 years of Gender Equality work with boys, men and fathers in Switzerland,

– clarifying the identity and tasks of a progressive alliance as well as its borders,
– sharpening the framework of progressive men’s contributions,
– highlighting productive tensions within Gender Equality movement which should be rather encouraged than suppressed.
